Every year on June 21, we celebrate Yoga, India’s contribution to the world, on the International Yoga Day. People all over the globe observe Yoga as an exercise and as a way of wellness, emotional balancing, and wellness. At The Notebook School, it was a day of joyful celebrations full of unity, self-discipline, and meditation when we celebrated International Yoga Day in 2025

"Yoga for Youth and Wellness" was the theme of the program for this year, and it was steering us in the direction to come up with activities that physically instilled flexibility and fostered calm, clear heads with a deeply rooted sense of inner peace in our students.

Why We Celebrate Yoga Day in School

It is to provide children with a well-focused and structured routine while actively engaging in physical exercise, which is useful. There is a need to balance emotional and mental wellness, and Yoga Day is meant to celebrate this in schools. Here at The Notebook School, we believe in the practice of Yoga and thus, we practice Yoga as part of the Physical Education (PE) activities. This richly celebrated day made us reminded of the countless ways yoga was beneficial.

Regular yoga practice leads to developing self-discipline and self-control and is beneficial in sharpening concentration. Along with a strong frame of mind, students are also able to create a good posture, emotional strength, as well as reduce stress. All these together help the students in moving toward a better academic performance and personal development.

Morning Assembly with a Yogic Start

This day started with a special morning assembly, during which the importance of the Yoga Day was explained. In our school, students were engaged to give a short talk on the contribution of Yoga Day to better living.

To begin, the school choir sang a soothing chant, which was followed by one of the seniors talking about how they celebrate Yoga Day in school. The thoughts the senior shared about well-being were thoughtful and calming.

Mass Yoga Session: United in Movement

A mass yoga demonstration was held on the school grounds, guided by trained instructors and the PE department. Students from Grades 1 to 10 participated in asanas like:

  • Tadasana (Mountain Pose)

  • Vrikshasana (Tree Pose)

  • Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

  • Sukhasana (Easy Pose – Meditation)

  • Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)

In line with the theme "Yoga for Youth and Wellness," each yoga pose was discussed with respect to the physical and mental benefits it offers.

Yoga Activities Across Grades

In order to spice up the day and make it suitable for different ages, a range of International Yoga Day activities in school were hosted:

  • Preschool & Early Years: Animal pose, Yoga, and breathing games

  • Middle School: Yoga quiz, drawing competition on "Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body"

  • High School: Poster-making and reflective journaling on "How Yoga Helps Me Focus"

These activities not only educated students but also encouraged them to reflect on how Yoga fits into their daily lives.

Teacher & Parent Involvement

Our teachers also joined the yoga session, led by example—a special thanks to the Physical Education team for coordinating the event. Parents were invited to attend virtually and were happy to see their children practice mindful routines.

Key Takeaways from Yoga Day 2025

  • Yoga enhances mental focus, physical agility, and emotional resilience.

  • It cultivates strong habits and relieves stress, especially for learners.

  • Activities of this nature enhance the overall culture of well-being in the school.

Conclusion

At The Notebook School, observing International Yoga Day 2025 was more than a celebration of doing Yoga; it was an attempt to integrate habits throughout life wellness routines for our students. The celebration taught us that a few minutes of Yoga each day enables one to experience Yoga’s serenity, sustainable balance, and lifelong clarity.

The Notebook School community celebrates our young yogis and thanks the staff, instructors, and parents for their participation in this significant celebration.
